The early learning and child care community of Peterborough have long been innovating in service to their community outcomes, which include many stakeholders, including the Municipality.

Their collaborative community leadership model is part of a variety of approaches that creates the best possible outcomes for the children, families and communities they serve.

“We wanted to provide a wrap-around service that enables greater continuity, collaboration and quality outcomes for every child in the region as they travel through different learning and care environments from birth through to Kindergarten and school.”

They are now one of the first communities to implement a centrally managed Storypark instance across a region with the desire to:

  • Streamline communication processes with families and save time for educators and care teams
  • Collaborate on authentic assessment and support of children’s learning
  • Improve staff retention so that more people are staying and working in the sector
  • Help providers show evidence of work they’ve done towards their ‘Quality Enhancement Plan’
  • Enhance the impact of professional development and support provided by coaches and partners
  • Provide customized resources for, and greater collaboration between, educators and care providers

“Storypark has helped us create more authentic and collaborative assessment of children, which is enabling more personalized planning and support. It’s exciting to be able to scale this across the region.”

For families in Peterborough and county, Storypark will provide an easy single point of communication from birth to school.

Local education provider Compass Early Learning has also adopted Storypark. They chose Storypark to support their own strategic priorities, and are looking forward to collaborating in new ways with colleagues across the region, including utilising the suite of ‘Professional Growth Tools’ offered within the platform.

Matt Tunnicliffe, Storypark’s Head of Business Development who recently relocated to from New Zealand to Canada to support our growing Canadian customer base, has been supporting the parties working together in partnership.

Here are some of the things we’ve been hearing from the parties about their experience with Storypark:

“We’ve learned that local parents want a clear communications platform and are currently using multiple sources. Storypark’s child portfolios travel with each child as they move from one early learning environment to another. This supports greater continuity of learning for children, a more cohesive community approach and greater communication.”
“Our Educator portfolios enable individuals, coaches, mentors and teams to collaborate together, using our planning tools to think about their individual growth and/or the development of children and teams.”
“As a community in agreement with Storypark, we’re able to secure cost savings for all centres consistently, empowering educators and staff with resources, support mechanisms and enhance our local ‘Quality Enhancement Plan’ (QEP) reporting processes.”

The project commenced in July 2024 and already has widespread adoption through the region. For more information about how Storypark can support your practice, contact Matt Tunnicliffe.
